The Art of Oil Painting

Oil painting is called the ‘Königsdisziplin’ in German, translated to ‘Supreme Discipline of Art’, because it is the paintings of the old masters that continue to mesmerize and fascinate us to this day.

This high standard of quality excites me! – Which is why I work solely with premium materials that stand the test of time. I paint exclusively with the highest quality oil colours in the world, made according to the traditional recipes and production methods of the old masters. A unique manufacturing process from the 16th century, the golden age of the old Dutch masters such as Rembrandt and Vermeer, which ensures that the pigments of the oil colours have the highest lightfastness, colour brilliance and clarity.

To match the standard I have refined my technique and crafted my own methods combining new and traditional processes. Using special primers and a multi-layered process I prepare the canvas meticulously. These techniques ensure that the canvas is exceptionally smooth and the oil colours blend in perfectly to create a soft harmonious hue.

I build up my oil paintings with many layers of color on top of each other, creating a marvelous sense of depth when the light refracts on the surface. The purposeful arrangement of the layers ensures that lower layers shine through the top layers, making the painting appear more lively. Each layer has to dry for up to several weeks before I can continue with the next layer, which is why it takes up to 9 months until a masterpiece is complete.

I paint with the finest brushstrokes until you smell the sweet fragrance of flowers, the flowing wedding dress looks soft to the touch and your loving laughter can be heard wide and clear. With diligent precision and great attention to detail, your masterpiece is finished after up to 200 hours of fine work. From gentle transitions to expressive brushwork, I emphasize each aspect individually, so let yourself be surprised!

To ensure that the finalized work of art is sheltered from light, I seal it with a museum-quality protective varnish. The satin finish makes the brilliance of the colours shine and ensures that the oil paint lasts for centuries.

In our fast-paced world, it is rare for artists to master the art of oil painting and spending so much time and diligence for a single painting. I love the conscious execution of oil painting and the mastery of it. Because of the standarts I have set for my art and the depth of emotions I want to convey, I use all artistic means to create the perfect masterpiece.

With passion and delicate brushstrokes, I invest the diligent fine work in your painting, so that your love story is captured for eternity.
