Frequently Asked Questions

Save the Date

If you send me your enquiry under Save the Date, I will get in touch regarding availability, as well as all the details of my offer. As I receive an increasing number of enquiries for the same dates, your desired date is only guaranteed with a deposit.

Upon receipt of the 50% deposit, the order confirmation for the live wedding painting, in the form of a personalised oil painting, is valid. This means that you have definitely booked me for your wedding day and I will arrive full of excitement to add my touch of paint to your wonderful wedding. 😊

Consultation

We will schedule an appointment for a phone consultation 4-6 weeks prior to your wedding. Together we will discuss your wedding schedule, which moment you have chosen for your painting, when I can take a reference photo, where I can set up my live studio and all details of the painting process for the day.

Since anticipation is half the please, of course we can start the preparation earlier to create the vision for your wedding painting. 😊

Requirements On-Site

Very easy, I need a nice space for my live studio, access to electricity and a happy wedding couple. ❤️

A fixed place for my live studio for the whole evening is important so that I can paint everything in one go.

To see what I am painting my easel light needs to be powered accordingly. If necessary I can bring extension cords but I prefer a short distanc to the socket so that there are no tripping hazards.

And most importantly, I need a small window of time to take reference photos of you of your loved up gazes. ❤️ I think it should be especially easy for you to give me your most romantic look of love on your wedding day. 😉 Thereafter, the painting show can beginn and you and your guests can watch the magic unfold on canvas.

The Wedding Painter Outfit

Festive, cheerful, colourful and chic – after all, your wedding is a joyous and festive occasion!

You or your wedding planner are welcome to tell me your wedding theme, decoration colour scheme and the dress code. I am happy to pick a suiting outfit to match your wedding vibes.

Completion Time

The entire process after the ceremony takes up to 9 months until the painting is ready for shipment. This is exactly why oil painting is called the ‘Königsdisziplin’ in German, translated to ‘Supreme Discipline of Art’. Creating an oil painting takes a lot of time, patience and fine work to really bring it to life!

After your wedding I take the painting back into my studio and with up to 200 hours of additional painting time I will transform it into a masterpiece. By layering many coats of colour I create a marvelous sense of depth and let the brilliance of the colours shine. Through this process I ensure to highlight every detail with meticulous fine work.

After several weeks of drying time the artwork is sealed with a museum-quality protective varnish. The satin finish makes the brilliance of the colours shine and ensures that the oil paint lasts for centuries.

The entire process therefore takes up to 9 months in total. I will be in touch as soon as I can predict when your painting will be on its way to your home. 😊

Colours of the Old Masters

Quality is my top priority, which is why I work exclusively with the most highly pigmented oil colours that the old masters have already painted with.

I use the highest quality oil colours in the world, made according to the traditional recipes and production methods of the 16th century, the golden age of the old Dutch masters such as Rembrandt and Vermeer.

The pigments of the oil colours have the highest lightfastness, colour intensity, brilliance and clarity. In the world’s greatest museums, the magnificence of the old masters’ oil paintings still leave viewers in awe up until today, a sign of quality that stands the test of time.

This is the high standard of quality I have set for myself, which is why I work solely with premium materials and invest the diligent fine work in your painting, so that your love story is captured for eternity.

Large Formats

I am more than happy to bring your vision to life on an extra large canvas. However, please bear in mind that not every format is suitable for live painting.

A variety of canvas sizes and individual wishes are possible with the studio commission and I am happy to consult you further. Please fill in the required form under studio packages so I have all details to make you and offer. You will also find an estimate price calculator and popular painting sizes for your reference.

Please fill me in on the details of your idea and let us figure out together how we can make it happen.

Shipping Fees

The shipping fees within Germany for all packages are 250€ per painting. If you decide to order additional art prints the shipping fees will be calculated individually. The same applies to artworks in large formats.

Shipping abroad is calculated individually and invoiced separately. Please take into account to cover any custom duties in your destination country.

Travel Expenses Germany

All travels to and from your wedding location within Hamburg are included. Weddings in other parts of Germany are charged with individual travel and accommodation costs, using my studio in Hamburg, postcode area 22143, as starting point. When travelling by plane, special luggage for the canvas must be taken into account.

In general, I am more than happy to travel and beach, snow, sand, castle or mountain weddings are all welcome!

Travel Expenses International

The world is my home, which is why I love travelling everywhere! Whether to Munich, London, Dubai or Hong Kong, you can find me anywhere in the world. 😊

If your dream wedding takes place at an exotic destination abroad, I will most certainly travel worldwide. Please bear in mind that there are additional charges such as flight tickets and expenses for special baggage allowance for the canvas.

Due to the booking systems of most travel providers, I can usually plan my trip about 6-9 months in advance. This means that the costs can only be finalised at the time of booking.

Framing

The edges of the canvas are painted in a uniform colour so that the painting has a beautiful sense of space even without a frame. A wall mount in the form of professional jagged hangers can be fitted as an option and is included in all prices.

A frame should always be chosen to match the surroundings and can range in a wide variety of directions, from discreetly minimalist, deliberate colour statements to opulent gold frames. I advise you to commission a picture frame professional, who will be able to give you the best advice and offer your a large selection of option.

Extra Requests

My speciality is capturing intimate moments of your love and your promise to walk through life together.

If guests, children, pets or ancestors play an elementary role, then I am happy to learn about your vision for the final painting. On the live painting day I only have enough time portray you as a wedding couple. Any extra requests are added afterwards in the studio. Extra requests can include adding additional people such as parents, children or ancestors through a collage, removing people from a group photo, expanding the background or even recolouring a black and white image. We will discuss all details upfront before I start working in the studio.

In general I only accept extra requests for large formats, beginning with the format 80 x 100 cm, since I need enough canvas space to make them come true. Costs are calculated individually but starting at an additional 2,000€ per extra request is to be expected. Every extra request needs my examination and only when I can accurately estimate the amount of effort I adjust my offer accordingly.

Painting from a Photo

I love to bring memories to life, whether it’s a wedding, silver wedding anniversary or the black and white photo of your grandparents in full colour. I am more than happy to create a wedding painting from your photograph.

You can find details about the process on the website under Studio Process.

If you have your reference pictures ready please contact me under Studio Packages. When I have all details I create you an offer and we can discuss your vision for your wedding painting.
